Plan your fitting around the date

Pick the event and the day. The timeline shows when to bring the piece in, when to come back, and when it's ready, so the week of the event is calm.

Guide only: Sue confirms the real schedule when she sees the garment. Peak seasons (March to May, September to October) book out early.

Price guide

Alterations are priced by the work, not the garment's price tag. Sue quotes in the shop once she sees the fabric and the fit. These are the common jobs people ask about.

    Good to know

    Do I need an appointment?

Call or text first for bridal and formal fittings so Sue can set aside the time. Everyday alterations can usually be dropped off during open hours.

What should I bring to a fitting?

The shoes you'll wear with it, the undergarments or shapewear you plan on, and the garment itself, pressed if you can. For suits, the shirt you'll wear underneath.

How many fittings does a wedding dress take?

Usually two to three. The first marks the big changes, the second checks them, and a final fitting about two weeks before the wedding confirms the hem and bustle.

Can you work with sequins, lace and beading?

Yes. Beaded and sequined hems and seams take longer because the work is moved and re-sewn by hand, so allow extra time and ask about it when you book.

    What about rush jobs?

Ask. It depends on what's already on the rail that week. The earlier you call, the better the odds.
